If something is not stated in the question assume/construe/interpret/presume (pick a word) that the default settings were used.

If a question is related to security and the question says nothing to the contrary then the default security settings are being used.

If a question is related to network libraries (communication protocols) and the question says nothing to the contrary then the default network libraries are being used.
