Read, do some hands-on practice, and read some more. This exam
will “test” your knowledge of the tiny details that you thought you
would never have to know or considered to be trivial. Whatever you thought was
trivial may be very important on this test.
Hands-on practice is very important. What do the output of
Windows and Unix networking and security commands look like? What do output of
router IOS security and status commands look like? How can those commands be
used or modified? If you had a large network, how would you use those commands
differently?
Think real-world security! This isn’t a “two
router” network exam. This is a real-life “I have a network that is
connected to the Internet, what are the real security concerns, how do I
configure my network, how do I know what is going on, how do I handle each of
the A’s in AAA, etc.”
