CCIE Security Exam 350-018: CCIE Security Written Qualification Exam
E X A M   D I F F I C U L T Y
SYNOPSIS CCIEvs
Cisco’s
exam 350-018, CCIE Security includes both a written exam and hands-on lab
exam as core requirements for the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification.
It is a high level exam for IT professionals who have a very good understanding
of IP and IP routing as well as specific security components. A CCNP, CCDP,
CCIP or CCSP are logical, yet not mandatory prerequisites for this set of
exams. Passing the written exam is a prerequisite to taking the corresponding
lab exam.
Cisco does not
publish the pass score for the written exam: “Pass marks are set by using
statistical analysis and are subject to change.” This
exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions and lasts 2 hours. The
lab exam is a one day eight hour practical exam. In terms of its scoring: “Each
configuration scenario and problem has pre-assigned point values. The candidate
must obtain a minimum mark of 80% to pass.”
i foundthe cisco elements of this exam not too bad as long as you work with the kit, but the encryption/network question covered a lot of NAC/RFCsthat you need to have read to pass
Too Inclusive and Very Hard
netrasher on Tuesday, June 27, 2006
This exam was exceedingly difficult mainly becuase it was all inclusive with such a broad range of subject material. I don't think I would have passed this if I didn't just recently finish the entire CCNP and CCSP tracks first. There is no one book for this one, and the Cisco Press Study Guide was a joke and a waste of time. The best 2 books I recommend are Cisco Press' CCIE Practical Studies:Security, and Network Security Principals and Practices. Also know all your routing and switching core fundamentals inside and out as well as the Security stuff.
wide and extensive

actually it is one of the most difficult exams, because you need to have an extensive knolwedge in routing and switching technology, in addition to be expert in security technologies VPNs, firwalls, IDS, IPS, attacks, also odn't miss the IOS questions,
in my opinon it is one of the hardest CCIEs
Vast information covered
zeus79 on Monday, August 29, 2005
I was very surprised to find out how much information is covered, and how many things are required to know for it (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, etc), but are not covered in the scope of any one book.
Exam is nitpicky
valerief on Tuesday, August 23, 2005
There is no good study guide for this exam. The Cisco CCIE Certification guide by Benjamin is not comprehensive and does not cover the material needed to pass. You will have to use other books and practice tests
very Challenging Exam

actually I suprised for its diffuculty, a lot of subjects and materials need to be studied, you need to be a very well educated in all subjects of the networking world (WLAN, Routing, Switching,ACLs, NAT,...etc), in addition to security stuff....
