Cisco’s exam 642-511, Cisco Secure Virtual Private Networks (CSVPN) is a core requirement for the Cisco Certified Security Professional (CCSP) certification as well as for the Cisco VPN Specialist designation. It is a mid level exam for IT professionals who have the knowledge and ability to describe, configure, verify, and manage the Cisco VPN 3000 Concentrator, Cisco VPN Software Client, and Cisco VPN 3002 Hardware Client feature set. Passed today with 912. I found the exam to be a fair test, straight forward with no tricks. It definiately helped doing CSPFA and SECUR first as IPSEC got reasonable coverage on those exams. I bought a 3005 and 3002 to play with which made getting a handle on concentrator menu navigation pretty easy. I use www.cbtnuggets.com for training material and have found it excellent and cheap. I've now passed the last 7 exams i've taken on the first attempt after discovering their site.

Very very tough exam. Believe it or not, they ask about the color of the VPN Client's icon. What else can I say? Mind all possible client-2-lan and lan-2-lan scenarios :-) IPSec over TCP, UDP, NAT-Traversal, LAN-2-LAN w/ NAT, RRI, VRRP, OSPF/RIP...you name it, all the little details trough the global concepts, sorry, but you'll get them on the exam. Keep an eye on main IPSec/IKE concepts, sw version requirements and on the confusing concentrator menu-structure, I've got about 3 'where is that' kindy questions. Cheers and good luck.

This wasn't a difficult exam to pass, 58 questions and 790 is a pass, but many of the questions were very poorly written. A lot of the questions were extreamly vague or misleading with muliple correct answers. Most the questions I drew seemed to focus a lot on the Cisco 3002 VPN Hardware client. The simulations really weren't difficult, I was able to pull them off without ever having to touch a Cisco 3000 VPN Consentrator or simulator before. The test also was strong on firewall policies, filter policies, bandwidth reservation poicies, and the auto-update feature and all the other different things that can be pushed from a 3000 Consentrator to a 3002 hardware client or the Cisco Unity Client; so be sure on what configurations can be pushed to either or both clients. Good Luck if your planning on taking this soon, it's very frustrating because of how vague and misleading the questions are.

Untitled Document > Persistent Group Chat: An Approach for More Profitable Team Communications : Unlike email, instant messages (IMs) do not allow group communication; nor do they persist -- you can't hold on to them for as long as you wish. Persistent group chat, however, allows businesses to organize persistent dialogue around business-critical topics, and keep them for easy retrieval later.
