The 70-284: Implementing and Managing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 certification exam measures your ability to implement, manage and troubleshoot an Exchange Server 2003 organization.
Candidates for this exam should have at least one year of experience implementing and managing an Exchange messaging system in environments that have the following characteristics:
250 to 5,000 or more users
Three or more physical locations
Network services and resources such as multiple versions of Exchange Server, Active Directory, proxy server, firewall, other messaging systems, DNS, Internet, intranet, and mobile client computers
Three or more domain controllers
Two or more Exchange Server computers
Connectivity requirements such as connecting branch offices and individual users in remote locations to the corporate network and connecting corporate networks to the Internet

Good test of knowledge

Overall the exam was a good test of overall Exchange knowledge. However, be aware that you will not only be tested on Exchange because you will be using your Windows 2003 networking skills as well. My test was form-based and had 30 questions with 100 minutes to complete it. I completed it in 35 minutes and scored 820. I would have completed in less time but my exam hung at one point and took forever to load the next question. The testing center was crowded so this may have had an effect. I reviewed my courseware from my Exchange Troubleshooting class (course 2011) that I had took 4+ years ago a few days before the exam. Otherwise I used my expereince to pass!

Took this exam last week. Passed by a comfortable margin. I'm now an MCSA: Messaging. Bragging aside, this test isn't so difficult. Fair mix is questions covering all the topics outlined by Microsoft. Microsoft's course material and of course hands-on practice are enough.

Alot on routing groups and connectors. A few on domain and forest prep with user accounts. The official Microsoft course covers this very well. The sybex book is also not too bad.

Wotre and passed today. If you you only administer a single exchange organistion, you will find this exam hard. Had a bit of everything. Enjoyed the exam.

This really wasn't too bad of a test. It's really meant to be taken after you at least take 70-290 and 0-291 although it's not required. With a good book you should do just fine.

A lot of questions didn't really deal with exchange itself but how you would setup a domain with exchange in it. For example, front end/back end servers, enabling ports on the firewall, and how users access OWA.

its pretty easy.
if its a product that you setup and configure for clients rather than internally then not too tough. If you look after your own site then extra study will be needed, owa and security was a heavy part of mine but no sims, a few exhibits which are annoying as they dont contain qs so keep having to flick back. Examcram2 used and a week of broken study while watching world cup and passed today with 850 and inside 40 minutes.

The 70-284 Exchange Server 2003 MCP is hard but obtainable. I cleared it first try with a 760 score. It's geared toward people who have already gotten 70-290, -291, etc., because there's a lot of DNS, routing, etc. and how they integrate with Exchange. I spent hours reading about the features and utilities of Exchange. This is needed if you have limited work experience with the product, but to pass the exam you only need to know the basics of Exchange+ a lot about Microsoft Windows networking, which can be obtained by passing the other MCSA/E exams before attempting this one.

But I must admit that I have a lot of experience with Exchange (5.5 - 2000 - 2003), including many migration (AD, ISA, SQL, Exchange, etc. Including design & architecture). But still, a fair exam for someone who knows & works with this product.
