The MCITP: Database Developer (Database Developer) credential validates the technician's ability to serve as developers for an enterprise-level database system. The MCITP: Database Developer 2008 provides this validation for database admins using SQL Server 2008. In general, Microsoft expects MCITP: Database Developer candidates to be involved in developing solutions for all types of database-related enterprise issues. This includes writing transact SQL queries, programming a database, troubleshooting programming objects, performance tuning and optimization and designing databases at both the conceptual and logical levels.
Reported salaries for technicians with their MCITP: Database Developer certification vary by job role, relative experience, additional certifications and location. According to PayScale.com, drawing from a pool of over 3,000 respondents, technicians with an MCITP: Database Developer can earn between $57,000 to over $66,000 annually. Other surveyors, like Certification Magazine and Redmond Magazine, include responses from Database Developers with additional certifications and greater experience. These numbers tend to be higher and may best be used to illustrate the future potential for someone with their MCITP: Database Developer certification. Additionally, candidates currently possessing their MCITP: Database Developer on SQL Server 2005 may upgrade their skillset to SQL Server 2008 by taking 70-454, Transitioning your MCITP SQL Server 2005 DBD to MCITP SQL Server 2008 DBD.
